We would be pleased to consider abstracts from undergraduate student projects as well as from experienced cardiac scientists.

  • Development of local service
  • Service Evaluation
  • Quality Improvement
  • Original Research or audit findings

Abstracts are invited for submission no later than 5pm on September 27th, 2024. We will notify you of our decision by no later than October 25th, 2024.

All abstracts will be reviewed and scored by a panel of experts based on quality and originality. The highest scoring abstracts will be invited to deliver a short oral presentation. A panel of judges will make an award for the best abstract on the day. Other accepted abstracts will be invited to present in poster form. Please indicate with your submission if you would like to be considered for poster presentation only. Abstracts which are not of sufficient quality will be rejected.

Posters will be featured in the exhibitor area on the day. The presenter is responsible for printing and providing the poster on the day of the conference. All accepted abstracts will be published in the SCST Journal.

Structure

Please use a coherent structure for your abstract. We recommend:

  • Introduction/Background
  • Aim/Purpose
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion

Authors

  • The name(s) of the author(s) must be preceded by initials only, the main presenter should be the first author.
  • Omit titles and degrees.
  • Include email address of the main presenter.
  • Identify centres/institutions involved.

Data

  • Abstracts that appear to be duplicate or similar versions of a single study will be rejected
  • Abstracts containing identical or very similar data submitted from the same institution and/or authors will be rejected.
  • Abstracts must contain original material neither published nor presented elsewhere. Abstracts that indicate ‘work in progress’ or ‘the results will be included in the poster/presentation’’ cannot be accepted as the reviewers need complete information to score the submission.
  • Submitted abstracts should not be published or under submission in any other journals and/or online publications or presented at any national or international conferences

If you have not received an email confirmation of receipt from SCST within 10 working days of submission, please re-submit abstract or contact us via the website contact form.

All presenters need to register for the Annual Conference.

Top Tips

  • Be concise and stick to the word limit.
  • Keep it simple – High-quality tables and/or figures are encouraged if they are relevant to the research submitted. Each abstract may include up to three figures and/or tables
  • Write clearly – Make sure that your abstract is easy to understand. A maximum of five (5) unique abbreviations are allowed within the body of the abstract. No abbreviations should appear in the title. Place abbreviations in parentheses after the full word or phrase the first time it appears

Do not include:

  • References, key words, credits, or grant support in your submission
  • Names or personal information of any patient participating in the study or trial. If you do, the abstract will not be considered for presentation
  • Authors or institutions in the title
