Trainee Representatives - Join SCST Committees

SCST would like trainees currently undertaking training through the Modernising Scientific Careers at all levels, Practitioner Training Programme (PTP), Scientist Training Programme (STP) and Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) programme, to have a stronger voice within their profession and, as a consequence, would like to invite trainee representatives to join SCST committees in 2020.

Trainees are the future of the Society, so it is essential that we ensure trainees have the ability to influence activities and help shape policy.  Introducing representation on SCST committees for trainees is a key means of enabling this aspiration.

New trainee representatives (2 per committee) are now sought via open application for the following committees for a one year term:

                                               Clinical Standards

                                               Digital, Communications and Marketing Committee

                                               Education Committee

Applications should be made in the form of expressions of interest using the form available here.

Please note: applicants may apply for only ONE named committee UNLESS you wish to submit an expression of interest to be involved in a committee of the SCST but without preference as to which, and in which case these applications will be considered as a general category in their own right.

Applications should be submitted to Secretary@scst.org.uk by the deadline: 5pm Friday 11 December 2020. Please add to the subject line the committee you are applying to or if a general application, mark it as ‘General’.

Selection will be undertaken by a panel including the respective Committee Chair and ratified by SCST Council.

Results will be communicated by Friday 18th December 2020 and successful candidates will take up these posts from Monday 4th January 2021.

The term in post will run from 4th January 2021 until 31st December 2021.

We very much look forward to receiving your application.
