The SCST infrastructure and sub-committees support the work of the Society.

SCST Executive

The SCST Executive is a sub-committee of SCST Council

Membership

SCST Executive shall consist of the Chair (SCST Council Chair), SCST Vice Chair, SCST Secretary, SCST Treasurer and SCST President. The Executive may include an appropriate nominee if deemed necessary for specific items under discussion.

Appointment of Executive

SCST Council shall, at their first meeting following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in each year, determine the members of the SCST Executive until the next following AGM.

Casual Vacancies

There shall be no casual vacancies occurring in membership of SCST Executive.

Frequency of Meetings

SCST Executive shall meet not less than 6 times in each year. A quorum at each meeting shall be 3 members. It is expected that the meetings occur in virtual form via telephone or video conferencing facility.

Record of Meetings

The Secretary shall ensure that an agreed written record of each of their meetings is forwarded to SCST Council in a timely manner and include salient points discussed and outcomes agreed.

Attendance

The Chair shall normally be required to attend all meetings of the SCST Executive. Other individuals may, at the Chair’s discretion or the Executive’s request, attend meetings as required. Where an agenda item pertains to a specific sub-committee, the Chair of the relevant sub-committee should attend the meeting (for that component)

Functions of the Executive

  • To ensure the day to day running of the Society is maintained
  • Comply with the requirements of legislation and other regulators (if any) which
    govern the activities of the charity
  • To make decisions on behalf of the Society / SCST Council whilst adhering to
    SCST articles of Association and SCST policy
  • The SCST Executive can commit the Society to minor costs not exceeding
    £1000.00
  • The SCST Executive shall review current correspondence and arrange
    responses as appropriate

Accountability

The SCST Executive is accountable to SCST Council and matters affecting policy or strategic plan will be referred to SCST Council for final decision

SCST Workforce

SCST Workforce is a sub-committee of SCST Council

Membership

SCST Workforce shall consist of a Chair and individuals approved by SCST Council.

Appointment of Sub-committee

SCST Council shall, at their first meeting following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in each year, determine the members of the SCST Workforce until the next following AGM.

Casual Vacancies

SCST Council shall decide upon casual vacancies within SCST Workforce.

SCST Workforce shall meet not less than 3 times in each year. A quorum at each meeting shall be 3 members. It is expected that the meetings occur in virtual form via telephone or video conferencing facility.

The Workforce Chair shall ensure that an agreed written record of each of their meetings is made available to SCST Council in a timely manner and include salient points discussed and outcomes agreed.

Attendance

SCST Workforce Chair shall normally be required to attend all meetings of the Sub- Committee. Other appropriate individuals may, at SCST Workforce Chair’s discretion or the Sub-Committee’s request, attend meetings as required.

Functions of SCST Workforce

  • SCST Workforce are responsible for all workforce issues
  • Membership; including recruitment & retention
  • Ensuring careers information is kept up to date, primarily that of the website
  • Liaising with appropriate bodies in relation to workforce strategy
  • Regulation
  • International links

Accountability

The SCST Communication is accountable to SCST Council and all matters affecting finance, policy or strategic plan will be referred to SCST Council for final decision

SCST Standards

SCST Standards is a sub-committee of SCST Council

Membership

SCST Standards shall consist of a Chair and individuals approved by SCST Council.

Appointment to SCST Standards

SCST Council shall, at their first meeting following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in each year, determine the members of the SCST Standards until the next following AGM.

The Standards Chair shall ensure that an agreed written record of each of their meetings is made available to SCST Council in a timely manner and include salient points discussed and outcomes agreed.

SCST Standards Chair shall normally be required to attend all meetings of the Sub- Committee. Other appropriate individuals may, at SCST Standards Chair’s discretion or the Sub-Committee’s request, attend meetings as required.

Functions of SCST Standards

  • SCST Standards are responsible for all professional body related standards  Clinical Standards
  • SCST procedural guidance
  • NICE
  • Service accreditation (IQIPS)
  • Disciplinary documents and panel – link with RCCP process
  • Science and Research
  • Manufacturer’s liaison

SCST Communications

SCST Communications is a sub-committee of SCST Council

Membership

SCST communications shall consist of a Chair (SCST Secretary), SCST editor (s), Website Manager (s) and individuals approved by SCST Council recruited for specific communication projects.

Appointment of Sub-Committee

SCST Council shall, at their first meeting following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in each year, determine the members of the Sub-Committee until the next following AGM.

Casual Vacancies

SCST Council shall decide upon casual vacancies within SCST communication.

Frequency of Meetings

The Sub-Committee shall meet not less than 4 times in each year. A quorum at each meeting shall be 3 members. It is expected that the meetings occur in virtual form via telephone or video conferencing facility.

Record of Meetings

The Chair (SCST Secretary) shall ensure that an agreed written record of each of their meetings is made available to SCST Council and Executive in a timely manner and include salient points discussed and outcomes agreed.

The Secretary shall normally be required to attend all meetings of the Sub- Committee. Other appropriate individuals may, at the Secretary’s discretion or the Sub-Committee’s request, attend meetings as required.

Functions of the Sub-Committee

  • To maintain all forms of professional communication in such a way that the Society’s reputation is enhanced by any opportunity arising through communication mechanisms
  • To support and develop the Society’s present methods of communication, primarily, but not exclusively JSCST, SCST website & regional groups
  • Recommend modified and/or new communication related matters or methods to SCST Council and be responsible to champion such to appropriate wider audiences

SCST Education

SCST Education is a sub-committee of SCST Council

Membership

SCST Education shall consist of a Chair and individuals approved by SCST Council.

Appointment of Executive

SCST Council shall, at their first meeting following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in each year, determine the members of the SCST Education until the next following AGM.

Casual Vacancies

SCST Council shall decide upon casual vacancies within SCST Education.

Frequency of Meetings

SCST Education shall meet not less than 4 times in each year. A quorum at each meeting shall be 4 members. The 4 primary SCST Education meetings may occur in person. However, additional meetings are expected to occur in virtual form via telephone or video conferencing facility.

Record of Meetings

The Education Chair shall ensure that an agreed written record of each of their meetings is made available to SCST Council in a timely manner and include salient points discussed and outcomes agreed.

Attendance

SCST Education Chair shall normally be required to attend all meetings of the Sub- Committee. Other appropriate individuals may, at SCST Education Chair’s discretion or the Sub-Committee’s request, attend meetings as required.

  • Modernisation of Scientific Careers
  • Overseeing SCST professional exams through SCST Education Board

SCST Events

SCST Events is a sub-committee of SCST Council

Membership

SCST Education shall consist of a Chair and individuals approved by SCST Council.

Appointment of Sub-Committee

SCST Council shall, at their first meeting following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in each year, determine the members of the SCST Events until the next following AGM.

  • To organise the SCST annual Scientific meeting
  • To organise the SCST information meetings
