Please save the date for the National Update Meeting which will be held on Friday 22nd November in Birmingham.

This years programme includes news on Advanced Clinical Practice, Clinical Research, Advanced Arrhythmia Interpretation and new physiologist led services. We have Angela Douglas, Deputy Chief Scientific Officer to update us on Cardiovascular Disease and the Long Term Plan, as well as highly experienced Cardiac Scientists from around the country speaking on advancing clinical practice in cardiology. It is really looking like a meeting that you cannot afford to miss!

The programme is here and additional information is available on the SCST website. This years’ meeting will be host to a research poster competition. If you have undertaken some original research, audit, or service evaluation within the last year, and would like to share your findings with colleagues from around the country then enter this competition. The winning poster will be awarded a prize of £100. Further details can be found here

We also have some exciting news!

Last year SCST celebrated its 70th birthday.  In honour of this special celebration we are introducing the ‘SCST Excellence Awards’ in recognition of the outstanding contributions made to Cardiac Science by our members. We wish to acknowledge those SCST members that have gone above and beyond and strive to excel in their practice. There will be awards given to those who have excelled in examinations, as well as recognising those who have demonstrated a commitment to our profession.

But we need your help. There are four open categories:

  1. Excellence in Research
  2. Outstanding Commitment to Education
  3. Rising Star
  4. Service Transformation.

We need you to nominate colleagues, or yourself for these awards. We really want to shine a light on those who are helping to drive our profession forward. If you wish to nominate yourself, or a member of your team for one of these prestigious awards then you can access the application form here or on the SCST website. The closing date is midnight on 28th September 2019 so be sure to get your nominations in on time. More details can be found here.

Short-listed finalists will be announced on 7th October 2019. The awards will be presented at the National Update Meeting in November. Just to recap! Save the date. Submit your poster. Nominate who you think are the role models in our profession. Book here
