We are pleased to announce that our first computer based examinations will take place on Wednesday 21st July 2021. They will be held at Pearson Vue centres across the UK and Ireland, as well as other selected centres worldwide.
We will contact those of you who previously registered for the examination in March 2020 with specific registration instructions for you. Registration will open on 5th July and close on 16th July. Please note the short 2 week window to register for the examinations this year.
Anyone who requires additional support, such as extra time, must contact the administration team at exams@scst.org.uk with their supporting evidence before 5th July so your request can be authorised and forwarded to Pearson Vue. You will then be given further booking instructions.
Further details will be issued in due course, so please look for updates under the Education dropdown on this website.
It is good the exams are now computer based, but what has happened about the practical exam.
How are students to be assessed practically. Will you still do a practical exam or are you going to ask each hospital to do the practical assessments?
Whilst the work on the computer based exams has taken priority whilst there are restrictions on face to face events, the practical exams have not been forgotten about. SCST knows how highly regarded these examinations are, and the effect they have on improving quality of care for patients. Work will begin very shortly on expanding the number of independent examination centres available across the four countries. A number of sites ran very successful pilots prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we will be building on their success in order to make the practical exams as accessible to everyone as we possibly can.
We will shortly be contacting existing professional examiners with a view to opening up more examination sites.
